Who Could Find A Virtuous Woman? Proverbs 31:10 |

| Bio: | I write. I mean, that's the crux of owning a journal. This journal will have rants, reviews, contemplation, plot bunnies, some fiction, some poetry. I am a student. Majoring in English, Honours, and minoring in Creative Writing. Graduated ni May 2008. Undecided on what to do for graduate school. But still a student. I'm defining my identity. I'm a feminist, in the sense of the word that I believe in gender equality, and I believe in choice. I believe that positive liberty of one should not impede negative liberty of others. I believe we should look beyond societal rules and really see our gender stereotypes for what they are: a divide and conquer strategy instated by greedy, selfish people who fear the ramifications of a society that experiences true emotional fulfilment and thus, full rationality. I'm a humanist, in the sense of the word that I believe in exploring and reaching human limitations, and that I believe the highest ideal of humanity is an intergration of our emotional and rational selves. I believe we should dedicate some time to consciously review ourselves, how we think, how we know ourselves to be. I'm a heathen. I think religion should be one's own damn business, not dictated to by some pundit on a pulpit. That's annoying. Not to mention patronizing, of course, treating other people like they're infants incapable of thinking for themselves and figuring out rationally what the right thing to do is. But I also believe in looking at holy books rationally. I think the holy books of all the Abrahamic religions mean well. But they were written by men. And re-interpreted further by men. And worse, by men who take shit way too seriously. I'm also Asian, which is usually neither here nor there, but I grew up in an Asian culture reading Western books, so my sensibilities are an eclectic mix of East and West. I think they're both equally fucked up. I may or may not comment on Asian culture specifically.I hope when I comment on human nature, it will be universal. And I like swearing quite a bit. | |
